What this gallery shows

The photographs cover private yards, driveways, footpaths and parking areas, paths through parks and public grounds, commercial sites, and apartment block courtyards — including platforms for semi-underground waste containers. Alongside the paving there are gabion structures, timber terraces and fire pit areas.

In materials, the gallery holds concrete, clinker, granite and natural fieldstone paving — in herringbone, in wave patterns and in circular work. Several photographs also show kerbs, steps built from paving stone, linear storm water drainage channels and crushed stone strips along house foundations.

The sites are in Riga and the surrounding region — among them Jaunmārupe, Carnikava and Mežciema iela — around Bauska and Iecava, and outside Latvia as well. Some photographs show not a finished surface but the work itself: preparing the crushed stone base, laying kerbs, setting paving to a string line. Those are the stages that decide how long a surface keeps its shape.
